This Problem Solver deals with pump interchangeability:

When the bolt-on bell housing was introduced a lip was added to the pump body for alignment and support. The adapter inserts allow an earlier pump body without the lip to be used on a bolt-on bell housing application and still have the support of the lip.

Note to purchasing: Ask for Superior part number K033. This problem solver can be used with Superior Pump Part Numbers: 77914PE, 77914PME, 77914PM and 77914P.
